I have Vista Home and I want to run a windrop bot for backup trivia for my channel on IRC. If ya all could give me some pointers that'd be cool.

Windrop will run on Windows Vista Home. You'll need to install the windrop to the root of C:

You must be logged into Windows as Admin. Locate the Windrop zip file. Right click and select run as admin and unzip the folder to c:\windrop.
Open the windrop folder and edit the eggdrop config. After you have saved your config you'll need to right click the windrop folder and set full permissions for both system and admin on the windrop and all its sub-folders.

You will need to open a command prompt as Administrator.
In the Run box type cmd then Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
This opens the command prompt in administrator mode. You will be prompted by UAC to continue.
Start the windrop from the command line with the -m switch.
The Vista firewall may prompt you for permission to allow the Windrop access.
If you set specific ports for your windrop in the config you will need to use the advanced firewall settings to open the port range you selected.

Note: Port 113 is closed by default. If your server requires the clients on your IRC network to ident before you can login you will also need to open that port.
